I'm sad today. Well, more than normal. We're gearing up for a fight with Anna's day program. She's only been attending there for two months! Apparently, there's an employee working at the program who believes our children are "damaged goods." I don’t know which one – heck, I'm still learning names – but the parents are up in arms and will be meeting next week to see what we can do about it. When the executive director came down to see about it, she changed her story to "I meant they were brain damaged." And this director is okay with it and, instead, has accepted the resignation of the program director who has built this program up from the beginning and loves our kids soooo much. She feels forced to take this step.
Really??
I'm tired of fighting, but I can't give up. We've been fighting for Anna's rights since she was five years old and there was no summer program for her. Parents have to know their rights and work to enforce them. That was with the school district. I have no idea what our rights as parents are with the state. But I'll be learning. And here I thought this nonsense was done.
Anyone else out there fighting for their child today?
